Update about myself + Christmas Card 2013 + Doodles

Just a small update about myself. I've finished my next 3 ACCA exams. I get my results on 8th February 2014. If I pass these 3, I'll have 8 more. Hoping to get back into drawing and hoping to see Frozen and Saving Mr Banks soon.

Rest in Peace Diane Disney Miller

Walt's daughter Diane passed away yesterday at 79. I hope she rests in peace. She did a lot to preserve her father's legacy.

Happy Birthday Mickey

Mickey Mouse turns 85 today. Happy Birthday Mickey. Life wouldn't be the same. For one I would have never picked up a pencil. I would have never becone fascinated with animation. I would have never become a Disney fan and I would never have started my collection. Thank you Mickey and Happy Birthday.

Doodley Doodles

I haven't posted any drawings for a while so I thought I should.

Here's Doodleboy.

Tag, Fingers, the Prof and Mort.

Some cartoony girls.

Now this was an experiment I intended to colour up but never got round to. I've seen a lot of fan art crossing over Kim Possible and Phineas and Ferb, so I tried to draw the characters from the one show in the other's show style.

90 years ago today Walt and Roy Disney set up the Disney Bros Studio in Kansas City. I think that deserves a moment of appreciation.

Doodles

Characters copyright Daryl-Rhys Taylor :iconDarylT:

I love the style of Disney Infinity and so couldn't resist trying the style out on some of my characters.

I love the style of those new Mickey Shorts and so couldn't resist trying the style out on some of my characters.

And of course I couldn't resist drawing Mickey himself.

Character concepts for possible sequels to my book Diggory Sparrow

Yeah I know I haven't got the first book finished for ipad yet (It's really close I'm just waiting for my sister to check over the layout, she's really good at that sort of thing) I couldn't help coming up with some ideas and characters for possible sequels. There's four possible ones at the moment. Characters and ideas copyright Daryl-Rhys Taylor 2013

1. Diggory Sparrow and the Spirit Ninja of the Mountains

2. Diggory Sparrow and the Showdown at Dino Gulch

3. Diggory Sparrow and the Sinkhole that Sunk Scotland.

4. Diggory Sparrow and the Cross-Dimensional Treasure.

Rough Low Poly Maya Models

Here are some very rough low polygon models that I made in Maya of the Animation Station characters. I admit I'm not the best at modelling but you have to try these things. Hopefully they will be rigged and then I can animate with them for my showreel. Characters copyright Daryl-Rhys Taylor 2013.

Doodles for later projects, Revising for ACCA exams and revisiting my student film

Currently I have been busy revising for my ACCA exams. I have them on my brothers birthday and I get my results on mine. Oh goody. Anyway I've managed to find some time to draw.

These below are to accompany the CG Models I have been modelling in Maya in my spare time, for animation purposes in my showreel.

A model sheet of my character Stitchbag. Copyright me.

So its been about five years and i decided to look at my student film. Boy its a bit rubbish. All i can see is things that i cut and things i cheaped out on to get it finished and also the things i did just plain wrong. Like trying to have an explaination story to what should have been a one joke film. Having two many characters. Having educational bit. Having two much lead up into the joke and not enough resolution afterwards. And fibally why did i make in 2D when the rest of my course was CG.

Happy Birthday Superman

Superman has turned 75. And I just wanted to take a few minutes to tell you all why I like him so much. I've heard all the arguments about him being lame, he's over-powered, he's a too goody goody, he's not relatable because he's so strong and to those people who say that I say, you obviously haven't read a Superman comic at all. The truth is Clark Kent is the most humanly flawed and relatable character in all comics. He's an ordinary person, gullible, naive, caring, loving human, but he can do all these incredible things. And it's the fact that he chooses to do the right thing no matter the circumstances shows a moral strength that we should all emulate and look up to. He doesn't do it out of guilt or some vengeance issues, he just does what he does because it's the right thing to do. And to me that's what a superhero should do, that's what we all should do. So Happy Birthday Kal-El, you show everyone how to be a bit more heroic.

Happy 75th Birthday to the Man of Steel.

Why most young people are wrong about Walt

These Walt myths should not exist. They are cruel, injust and completely untrue.

Nickelodeon Animated Comedy Shorts Submission

As today is the submission date I feel that I can post up these images. A couple of weeks ago, in my spare time from college I drew up a submission for the Nickelodeon Animated Comedy Shorts Competition. I actually finished and sent it off a month ago because for some stupid reason entries from outside the United States have to be posted instead of submitted online. We had to come up with a one minute short with at least 2 kid characters and set in one location. It wasn't easy. Anyway my idea is entitled "Timothy the Tiny Tyrannosaurus Rex in What is it for?" Hope you like it.

My favourite webcomics

Recently I have drawn some doodles inspired by my two favourite webcomics.

JL8 by Yale Stewart is a brilliant look at some of DC's best superheroes as kids so I played around with some other DC superheroes that haven't appeared in the strip yet. I though Aquaman could be a cocky prince, Green Arrow a rival to Bruce, Black Canary the loud girl n the class, Hawkgirl the quiet kid in the corner and Plasticman the weird kid that eats paste.

A doodle for my idea Grim soldiers. I have decided to try and make the boy character a girl.

Pocket Princesses by Amy Mebberson is a humorous look at the Disney Princesses if the all lived in a castle together. I love the squat cute drawing design and I have tried to recreate it as best as I can.

A model sheet for my Doodleboy Redesign.
