Another new showreel plus Life Drawing
Due to comments received from Ellen from Rare at the Eurogamer convention, my friends and people on the 11 second club, I decided to strip my showreel done to possibly the only two things I am proud off.
1. My entry into the May competition of the 11 second club
2. My animatic for the Blue Sky Studios Story Internship
Life Drawing done in Waiting Room

New Showreel
Hi. Firstly I would like to thank David Fortier, Dave Pruiksma, Will Finn and the many kind members of the 11 second club for their advice on my previous reel. Due to their suggestions I have decided to gut my previous reel and make this new one up. All the work featured on this reel can be seen in full at my website www.daryl-rhystaylor.co.uk.
The contents of this reel are as follows
1. My entry into the 11 second club May competition.
2. 2 clips from my student film 'Insane Science Seeking with the Professor'.
I eventually hope to replace the clips of my student film with new flash animations.

New Showreel + DAC
My latest show reel. I put two extra pieces of animation done in Flash in, and a lot more life drawing, storyboards, concept art and pre-production work. Thank you Carl Gover and Linda Jones for all the suggestions. I also had to change the music too.
Here below is my submission to the Design_a_Character Group on Deviant ART.

New Showreel
My updated showreel. I wanted to add some new hand-drawn animated bits in Flash, but my mac with Flash on it broke. So I quickly made this up. It has one new piece. Hopefully expect another new showreel to come soon.

New Showreel
Well, here is an update to my showreel. I'm going to the Eurogamers fair this friday and I just has to make this reel quickly. I have tried to take some of the helpful criticism from Will Finn, Dave Pruiskma and man others.that I received from my earlier reel to work into the new animations. I've tried not to move the characters around so much and let the characters truly feel alive. If I accomplished this I don't know. I'm working on a lot more animation so expect more updates to the reel.

New Showreel
Well, since my last showreel didn't get me any luck with finding a job I decided that maybe it was time to change it around a bit. Very kindly David Fortier from Pip Animation and master animator Will Finn gave a look over my reel. They both felt the old one was too scattered, and I could do a lot more with less. Listening to their suggestions, I need a lot of new stuff to add to the reel, for example more artwork and a more emotion filled piece of animation, something more akinned to what you see in features. But those will both take time, so I made up this reel using the stuff I have now. In case your wondering the Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh drawings I did for a Disney Consumer Products Contest here in the U.K. Better start on the new work. Oh, the music is copyright Rare.

Showreel Stress
This term has gone off to a bit of a bad start. Not only have I got two projects to do at the same time, go to drtcva205.blogspot.com to find out more about that, but I also have to do a show reel. This show reel must not be some long quicktime file on a blank DVD, it must be a professional thing, with sections, and animated menus with sounds and things. The DVD must have a label printed on it and have a case etc. That's a lot of extra work. Not to mention what to put on the show reel. I don't have a lot of stuff collectively, not to mention syphoning through to find the best. Re-editing, re-rendering, re-colouring, everything will need a touch up. I don't even think my work is good enough. Oh Spoot!
