Sony Boy for Softmart

A little while ago I was contacted by a company called Softmart in America. They saw my previous Sony Boy project I did a college and wanted me to draw Sony Boy for a promotional calender. I was quite excited. Unfortunately, Softmart's clients decided to go to in a different direction and hence my work is not needed. So I have put the drawings up on here. Oh well, I hope everyone likes them.

New Doodles

Here are some drawings I have been doing to pass the time whilst working on my new show reel and looking for jobs.

The first are some supporting characters based on Darwin Cooke's New Frontier and The Gilmore Girls.

I wanted to give the Toons and Doodleboy the air of the fifties, a time of optimism, which I love in Darwin Cooke's The New Frontier, so I redesigned them. I then saw this image in the back of the Up art book and decided to create this picture.

Chris Sanders had produced a tutorial on deviantart which was very helpful of him. It is important for animators to be able to draw in different styles so I used it to practice Chris Sander's style. The three witches in the middle are a copy, the two on the outside are me designing in his style.

Pocahontas and Cornelius

Just some random doodles.

New Showreel

Well, here is an update to my showreel. I'm going to the Eurogamers fair this friday and I just has to make this reel quickly. I have tried to take some of the helpful criticism from Will Finn, Dave Pruiskma and man others.that I received from my earlier reel to work into the new animations. I've tried not to move the characters around so much and let the characters truly feel alive. If I accomplished this I don't know. I'm working on a lot more animation so expect more updates to the reel.

Job hunting and Comic reviews

Just an update on what's happening in my life so far. The job search has turned up nothing, either I'm not good enough or they are not hiring at the moment. Oh and my siblings Lewis and Nerissa are going back to college. This makes me feel sad. I have some drawings here. I've cleaned some of them up.
I've been reading some comics.
Finished New Frontier, it's amazing. Darwin Cooke's book is brilliant, and the artwork's incredible.
I read Spider-man, Brand New Day. It's actually some of the best Spider-man I've read in ages. Story's good and Spidey's actually funny.
Finally I read Ameile Rules. It's quite funny. I enjoyed it.
Hoping to have better luck. See ya.

Animation Station Comic

This is something a bit different I tried. It's a comic I turned into a video. It's about a group of retired cartoon characters running their own digital television network. They get into a variety of mishaps and scraps as they put on a live nightly two hour show. I did this purely to get it out of my system. If you want to read it please visit http://www.zudacomics.com/.

New Showreel

Well, since my last showreel didn't get me any luck with finding a job I decided that maybe it was time to change it around a bit. Very kindly David Fortier from Pip Animation and master animator Will Finn gave a look over my reel. They both felt the old one was too scattered, and I could do a lot more with less. Listening to their suggestions, I need a lot of new stuff to add to the reel, for example more artwork and a more emotion filled piece of animation, something more akinned to what you see in features. But those will both take time, so I made up this reel using the stuff I have now. In case your wondering the Mickey Mouse and Winnie the Pooh drawings I did for a Disney Consumer Products Contest here in the U.K. Better start on the new work. Oh, the music is copyright Rare.
